Roundshot and Hasselblad, a Great Group Shot Team

This past weekend we had a booth at the Florida Police Chiefs Association 62nd Annual Summer Conference at the beautiful Boca Raton Resort and Club. We were there to introduce the police departments to the forensic crime scene applications and capabilities of the Roundshot D3 digital camera and Roundshot VR Drive with the Hasselblad H5D-50c. Fast and easy captures with remarkable detailed virtual tours. The user friendly Roundshot system and software has the ability to caculate distances and measurements from within the crime scene and create walkthroughs from differenct angles. The Rounshot system costs much less than the closest competitor whose equipment is more expensive, difficult to use and not as effective.

We offered to take a group shot of the Police Chiefs in attendance as a thank you for the services they perform for our communities. We set up in an empty ballroom and had to shoot using available light. Werner Seitz, owner of Seitz Phototechnik, the creators of Roundshot flew in from Switzerland for the show and the three of us set up two camera systems to shoot simultaneously. Set-up one, the new Hasselblad H5D-50C with a 35-90mm zoom lens set at 70mm atop the Roundshot VR Drive. Set-up two, the Roundshot D3 with an 80mm lens. Both cameras performed perfectly and the high ISO of the Hasselblad H5D-50C really came in handy.

Once the shot was taken, I had two hours to rush back to the studio, stitch the Hasselblad / Roundshot pano using PTGui software, add the finishing touches in photoshop, and print a 36 X 180 inch print. Addie then ran the finished product back to the hotel and the print was displayed in the entryway for all to see. The print was amazing. I was blown away with the quality of the H5D-50C 1600 ISO images. This was the first time we used the 50C for an actual assignment. The Roundshot VR Drive once again was a life saver, the percission and accuracy of the individual sequenced shots, correct nodal points and perfect overlap made stitching a breeze.
