Iceland is a stunningly beautiful place if you enjoy strange and desolate landscapes, and what photographer doesn’t love strange desolate landscapes.
From a geological standpoint, Iceland is a very young country, still in the midst of its own creation. Shaped by the forces of nature, the, barren landscapes demonstrate the creativity powers of the four basic elements—earth, air, fire, and water—in a dramatic way. Active volcanoes, bright green valleys, glacier-cut fjords, black sand beaches, and roaring rivers are the most distinctive features of the Icelandic landscape. And although they are very accessible, they still remain virtually untouched by human civilization. In a fast-paced world of sprawling development, Iceland's pure nature and empty expanses stand out as a luxury.
These sights are paired with the expertise of on-hand professional photographers Peter Lorber and Courtenay Gilbert as they teach you how to get the most from your gear and show you some new techniques to capture the unique beauty of Iceland. In addition a local guide with vast experience in landscape photography of Iceland, will make sure you get to the best locations at the best possible light.
There is no telling what you may discover during our Iceland workshop, but with unparalleled guidance, a group of likeminded people, and a location without limits, the doors are wide open for a world of possibilities.
And as in all of our workshops we enjoy great restaurants, stay in upscale accommodations, and share lots of laughter while surrounded by breathtaking scenery. This makes our workshops perfect not only for you the photographer, but also for your non-photographer travel partner looking for an amazing vacation!

Itinerary
This is not a workshop where you spend most of your daylight shooting hours sitting in a classroom. We get you up and out to make the most of each and every day to capture as many great photo opportunities as possible.
Day 1: Arrive in Iceland, transport to your hotel in Reykjavik. Group dinner and meeting. We will briefly go over the itinerary and prepare for our adventure in Iceland. (Overnight in Reykjavik) Note, if the conditions are great then we may have an opportunity to photograph the aurora after dinner.
Day 2: Today we will drive through Þingvellir National Park to the highland road of the Kaldidalur Valley. See the effects of the earth separating through the visible cracks and fissures of the great Almannagjá Gorge. Next we visit Langjökull, one of Iceland’s largest glaciers. On to the waterfalls of Borgarfjörður. They are called Hraunfossar, which translates to "Lava waterfalls", and Barnafoss, which means "Children´s waterfall". Sunset in Kolugljufur waterfall in canyon. Overnight on the north coast
Day 3: We start the day with sunrise at seascape Hvítserkur, a 15-meter high monolith or sea-stack on black sand beach. The legend goes that Hvítserkur is a petrified troll but the if you don’t believe that the truth is that is a volcanic plug from the long time ago. Whatever is correct it is an impressive photo opportunity. We will also make a stop to photograph Icelandic Horses. Godafoss waterfall, Myvatn lake. Overnight Myvatn
Day 4: Full day in Myvatn area. We will explore Hverir, a unique wasteland in which pools of boiling mud, hot springs and hissing chimneys give life to a desolate Mars-like scenery. As well as Krafla, Namaskard, Leirhnjukur and Viti. Overnight Myvatn
Day 5: Full day in Myvatn area. The Northern part of Iceland is known for three waterfalls that are often called “The Majestic Waterfalls”. Dettifoss is one of them but we visit the second two. Both large in volume and surrounded by great landscape. First Aldeyjarfoss with its basalt column front, & second Goðafoss, nicknamed by one local as ‘The Beauty’ in comparison to ‘The Beast’ of Dettifoss, the name Goðafoss could be translated roughly as The Waterfall of The Gods. Crater in Myvatn. Overnight Myvatn
Day 6: Travel from Myvatn north coast. Dimmuborgir, Horses, Hraundrangar, Waterfall Reykjafoss. Overnight in Varmahlid
Day 7: Travel Kjölur into the central highlands, geothermal area Hveravellir (hot pools and steam vents). Geothermal mountain area Hveradalir in Kerlingarfjoll. Waterfall Gygjarfoss. Overnight in the central highlands
Day 8: Kerlingarfjoll geothermal area, travel Kjölur to Skálpanes, Hvítársíða, Waterfall Gullfoss, Geysis. Group dinner and overnight in Reykjavik
Day 9: Reykjavik - Airport transfer to KEF
